Mr. Biplab Ketan Paul

Mr. Biplab K Paul is striving to empower ultra – poor farmers in all corners of this earth to access food security and doubling of Agri- income through use of his innovative irrigation technology BHUNGROO. He aspires to change the world through these downtrodden Change Makers.

Mr. Biplab is a globally acclaimed development professional with more than twenty years of grassroot experience within inclusive development cutting across Indian states and Asia.

Starting his career in 1994 as a field worker he gradually became the director and board member of Lokvikas (www.lokvikas.org), a nonprofit, and also expanded organization work from 3 villages to whole state and then at national level. Through this process, Lokvikas was successful to add feathers in its cap in form of prestigious districts, state, Federal and global awards. His work in water sector (cutting across water for food, water for people and water for nature) has been recognized as Change Maker for India by Noble Laureates. He was sponsored by US Government to extend support to south East Asian countries in water domain. He is successful to extend support to Indian government with various policy inputs in the domain of drinking water, rural development, women empowerment, livelihood (to name a few). In 2010 he was conferred with “Ashoka Change maker Fellowship” for his unique idea of poverty eradication through grassroot innovation. Subsequently, his work was recognized as unique reflection of Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophy of Antodaya & Sarvodaya.

His area of expertise lies in Inclusive development planning with a special focus on innovation. His passion is Capacity Building of and for the downtrodden. Currently he is attending the water disaster challenges of more than 1 million people. He is enabling development vision to more than 1000 Self Help Groups impacting more than 180000 poor hands in India and extending support to various organizations across the globe.
